SSMB29: SS Rajamouli shares an exciting update about his next with Mahesh Babu; Hrithik Roshan to play antagonist?

SS Rajamouli is an ace filmmaker whose films have not only been loved nationally but across international borders too. The acclaimed director recently flew to Japan for a special screening of RRR where he received much love from his fans in the island nation. This included an 83-year-old grandmother gifting the filmmaker 1000 origami cranes.

While the 2022 blockbuster film is still much loved, Rajamouli fans are also excited for his next. Tentatively titled SSMB29, the film stars Mahesh Babu in the lead and is said to be a forest adventure film. And now, there is an update on it.

As reported by Pinkvilla, during an interaction with fans at RRR’s special screening in Japan, SS Rajamouli spoke about SSMB29. He revealed that the film’s writing has been completed and the pre-production work of the film is currently underway. He also revealed that Mahesh Babu is the only actor on board currently and the search for the others is on. 

As soon as SS Rajamouli mentioned Mahesh Babu’s name, the audience erupted into cheers as well. During the interaction, the filmmaker called Mahesh Babu handsome and promised to bring him to Japan during the release of SSMB29. Check out the video here:

Hrithik Roshan in SSMB29?

As per a recent Telugu 360 report, SS Rajamouli is looking to cast a formidable opponent opposite Mahesh Babu in SSMB29 and Hrithik Roshan is currently at the top of his list. According to the report, the ‘RRR’ filmmaker feels the ‘Fighter’ actor will be the apt choice for the role after going through several names.

The report further reveals that Rajamouli’s team has yet to approach Roshan for the part. If this casting coup is a success, Indian film lovers worldwide will be in for a treat seeing Mahesh Babu and Hrithik Roshan clash.

As per reports, work on the film set is currently underway at the Aluminium Factory. The makers are currently on the lookout for other cast members. Scouting for locations abroad is on underway as the film will be shot extensively across several countries.
