Vijay’s Wife Sangeetha Withdraws Her Petition

This development comes four days after Sangeetha withdrew her divorce petition filed against Vijay in the Family Court at Chengalpattu. According to court records, Sangeetha appeared via video conference and told the court she no longer wished to proceed with the case. She also submitted a withdrawal petition. Vijay’s lawyer did not oppose the withdrawal. The court allowed Sangeetha to withdraw the petition, while giving her the option to refile if she chooses. The order did not specify the reasons behind her decision to withdraw.

Sangeetha filed for divorce in February 2026, seeking to end her marriage to Vijay after over twenty years. The couple married in 1999 and have two children, Jason Sanjay and Divya Sasha. In her petition, she accused Vijay of having an extramarital affair with a female actor. She claimed this relationship caused her “deep emotional pain and mental suffering, amounting to betrayal and breach of marital trust.” The petition states that Vijay initially promised to end the relationship but continued it. Sangeetha cited this, along with emotional neglect, public humiliation, mental cruelty, and constructive desertion, as reasons for seeking a divorce.

She also requested permanent alimony, residential rights, and other reliefs, and asked for the proceedings to be held in camera to safeguard the privacy and dignity of those involved. The petition did not publicly name the actress involved. However, Trisha’s name was linked to the allegations amid longstanding speculation about her relationship with Vijay.
