CID fame Dinesh Phadnis, who used to play the role of Fredericks in the popular show passed away on Monday (December 4) night due to multiple organ failure. He was suffering from liver damage and was on ventilator support for the last two days at Tunga Hospital in Mumbai. His last rites will take place on 5th December. Co-star Dayanand Shetty confirmed the news of his death.

CID fame Dinesh Phadnis passes away

Dayanand Shetty, who played the character of Daya in CID and is a very close friend of Dinesh Phadnis confirmed the news. Speaking to Indian Express, he stated, “Dinesh breathed his last at 12.08 am.” Shetty further shared, “There were a lot of complications and he was removed from the ventilator last night.” The actor’s funeral will take place in Mumbai at 10.30 am.

Dinesh Phadnis’s health issues

A few days back, it was reported that the actor suffered a heart attack. However, the reports were lated debunked by Dayanand Shetty. He shared an update on his CID co-star Dinesh’s health and told Indian Express, “Dinesh Phadnis is hospitalised and on a ventilator, doctors are observing him. He has not suffered a heart attack, it is a different treatment and I wouldn’t like to comment on it.”

The popular detective show CID started airing on television in 1998 and had a glorious run till 2018. It is one of the longest-running shows on Indian television. Dinesh played the role of Fredericks on the show and his character was loved by the audience for his comic timing and fun banter. Apart from CID, he also made a special appearance in the popular sitcom Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah.
