Sunil Pal, one of the most popular comedians in the entertainment industry, fell into legal trouble recently. It all happened, a video of Sunil Pal criticizing doctors treating COVID patients went viral. In the clip, Sunil made several defamatory remarks against doctors engaged in COVID-19 management. He called doctors ‘demons’ and ‘thieves.’ This did not go down well with the medical fraternity, and an FIR against him was registered.

Reportedly, the head of the Association of Medical Consultants registered a complaint against Sunil Pal at the Andheri police on Tuesday. Post the charges, Sunil Pal has issued a public apology to all doctors and asked for forgiveness. The comedian extended his apology on his Twitter handle. Sunil Pal said, ‘Sorry’ to all the doctors and apologised to them. He tagged several people in his apology tweet, including the Chief Minister of Maharashtra.

Sunil Pal issues apology to doctors:

In the viral video, Sunil Pal was heard saying that 90% of doctors are dressed in ‘demon suit’ while the other 10% are actually working to make things better. Sunil’s criticising jokes comes at a time when the healthcare system in India is overburdened due to the second wave of COVD 19. Doctors are working day in and day out to curtail the spread of the virus.

The police have filed an FIR against Sunil Pal under sections 500 (defamation) and 505 (2) (public mischief) of the IPC (Indian Penal Code). No arrest has been made yet, but the investigation is on.
