Pranit More Rs 370 Biryani Row: Sunil Pal Calls Comedian ‘Comedy Ka Kalank, Samaj Ke Atankvadi’; Accuses Him Of Corrupting Youth

The controversy surrounding comedian Pranit More and the now-viral ‘Rs 370 biryani’ remark continues to intensify online. Several comedians and public figures have reacted strongly to the incident. Now, veteran comedian Sunil Pal has joined the debate and sharply criticised Pranit More as well as the growing trend of vulgar comedy content.

Sunil Pal Slams Pranit More Amid Rs 370 Biryani Row

The controversy began after a clip from Pranit More’s recent stand-up performance in Gurugram surfaced online. During an interaction with an audience member named Himanshu Jangra, the man claimed that after spending Rs 370 on a woman’s meal, he expected intimacy in return. The video quickly triggered backlash across social media platforms.

Reacting to the incident in a now-deleted video, Sunil Pal criticised comedians who use abusive language and obscene jokes during performances. Calling Pranit “Comedy ka Kalank,” Sunil said, “Comedy ke naam pe joh ashleelta kuch ladke ladkiyan mike pakadkar in dino darshakon ke saamne karne ki koshish karte hain. Isse unka gar toh chal jaata hau lekin, unka fashion toh pura hojaata hai lekin humare desh ka Yuva ko bigaadne ka kaam karta hai. Isiliye main inlogo ko hamesha samaj ka atankavadi kehta hoon. Kyunki joh samajh me nahi aata wo samaj mein nahi aata.”

Sunil further argued that comedy venues should introduce strict rules against obscene performances. According to him, organisers and venue owners should not allow vulgar content or abusive conversations on stage. He also claimed that such humour negatively impacts young audiences.

Sunil Pal Questions Why Comedians Are Called In Bigg Boss, KBC

The comedian then brought reality shows like Bigg Boss and Kaun Banega Crorepati into the discussion while questioning why controversial performers receive mainstream visibility. He said, “Aaj samaj aur hum jaise comedians dara hua aur ghabraya hua hai….ki inhe kyun Bigg Boss mein bulaya jata hai, inhe kyun KBC mein bulaya jata, inhe kyun aage badhaya jata hai jab gali galoch karne wale ye log hain? Agar acche logon ko aap aage nahi leke aaoge toh issi type ka market banega aur iss tarah se Comedy ke naam pe Kalank humare desh main badhta jaayega.”

Sunil Pal also referred to comedian Samay Raina during his criticism. Earlier, following the India’s Got Latent controversy, Sunil had controversially referred to Samay Raina and Ranveer Allahbadia as ‘terrorists.’

As the controversy escalated, Maharashtra Cyber Police booked Pranit More, Himanshu Jangra and Sejal Pawar on allegations related to obscenity and sexual harassment. Additionally, the National Commission for Women summoned Pranit and Himanshu over allegations of glorifying non-consensual behaviour and promoting sexual coercion.

The incident has once again reignited debates around freedom of expression, boundaries in stand-up comedy and the responsibility of performers while addressing live audiences. While some comedians continue defending creative freedom, others argue that comedy should not normalise offensive or harmful behaviour in the name of entertainment.
