Tanya Mittal DEFENDS Pranit More Amid Rs 370 Biryani Row

Stand-up comedian Pranit is once again in the spotlight after his controversial “Rs 370 biryani” remark during one of his recent shows sparked widespread outrage online, leading to an FIR filed by the Maharashtra Cyber Police. While Pranit has issued a public apology, the backlash continues to grow. Now, Bigg Boss 19 contestant Tanya Mittal has shared her perspective on the controversy. Tanya emphasised the importance of empathy and cautioned against social media becoming a platform for relentless toxicity.

Tanya Mittal DEFENDS Pranit More Amid Rs 370 Biryani Row

Speaking to the Fever FM show on YouTube, Tanya Mittal stated, “I do feel bad for Pranit (More) as well. A mistake was made, FIRs were filed against him, and he was subjected to intense public backlash. But we shouldn’t forget that everyone has a family. What he did was wrong, and all of this happened because of it, but human beings do make mistakes. He made one and apologised for it. After a certain point, we need to think about whether social media is becoming too toxic.”

She continued, “We should all remember that tomorrow, any one of us could be in his place. I’m saying this today, but if I make a mistake tomorrow, social media won’t spare me either. There comes a point when we should put ourselves in the other person’s shoes and know when to stop.”

Tanya On Social Media Hate, Toxicity

Tanya also stressed that mistakes happen to everyone and urged people to consider the human side before joining hate campaigns. She added, “Ek point ke baad ruk jana chahiye. Bura bolo, kisi pe sawal uthao then stop. Itna karo ki aaj uska parivar bhi samaj me reh paye…Woh bhi insaan hai aur galti insaan se hoti hai. (After a certain point, people should stop. Criticise someone, question their actions if you want, but then let it end there. Don’t take it so far that their family can no longer live with dignity in society. He is a human being too, and human beings make mistakes.)”

About The Controversy

During the show, Himanshu Jangra shared that he went on a date where he paid Rs 370 for a plate of chicken biryani, joking that he deserved a ‘return’ on his investment. He recounted that after eating, the woman asked to be dropped off at home, and he joked about wanting something in return, suggesting they go to a park for further interaction. Jangra’s comments and the accompanying behaviour drew sharp criticism.

Following the uproar, Pranit uploaded a detailed video addressing the situation, expressing regret and admitting he should have intervened when the problematic remark was made. The controversy led to the Maharashtra Cyber Police registering an FIR against both Pranit and Himanshu for obscene and derogatory remarks. Additionally, the National Commission for Women (NCW) summoned them to address the issue.

The incident has reignited conversations around boundaries in comedy, accountability, and social media’s role in amplifying or curbing such controversies.
