Rupali Ganguly REACTS to facing age-shaming for being older than Anupamaa co-star Gaurav Khanna

Fans love her chemistry with co-star Gaurav Khanna who plays Anuj Kapadia in Anupamaa. In a recent interview, Rupali Ganguly opened up about facing age-shaming and body-shaming. Rupali Ganguly shared her honest thoughts on age-shaming. The actress also spoke about being older than her co-star Gaurav and the flak she receives for it.

Rupali hits back at trolls

The actress revealed being called as ‘fat lady’. Rupali further mentioned that she’s proud of herself. Speaking with ETimes, Rupali said, “I have gone through body shaming, age shaming even after Anupamaa. Arre your wrinkles are visible, are that fat lady, yes, I have wrinkles and I am proud of them. I’ve earned every wrinkle of mine. I am proud of what I am today.”

Rupali added, “After three years of Anupamaa, I can say I accept the way I am. Any woman who is going through this, would say just shame your haters back. Don’t let anyone affect you because you are your best judge.”

Rupali on Gaurav and her age-gap

Furthermore, Rupali spoke about the age gap between Gaurav Khanna and her and how it doesn’t matter. Rupali added, “I even got comments on social media, ‘Oh she is fat, she is looking older than Anuj (Gaurav Khanna).’ Yes, I am older than him in life. I think he’s going to be 41 and I am going to be 45. I am proud of it.”

The actress added, “We play Anuj and Anupamaa on the show and are shown at the same age. Am I not doing 100 percent justice to my role? Let’s talk about my work. If you think I am not up to the mark, point that out, I’ll work on them.”

Rupali is known to speak her mind. The actress knows how to give it back to the haters.

Talking about her journey in the industry, Rupali earlier won hearts with her performances in TV shows like Sanjivani, Sarabhai Vs Sarabhai, and Parvarrish – Kuchh Khattee Kuchh Meethi. She has also appeared in films like Angaara, Do Ankhen Barah Hath, and Mera Yaar Mera Dushman among others.
