Very rarely you come across shows that leave an impact on you. And on top of that, there are very few shows that bring the entire family together. Ramanand Sagar‘s ‘Ramayan’ is one of them and it is enjoying the same popularity that it did way back in the 80s.

The mythological show recently became the world’s most-watched shows. And that in itself showcases how much people love it and how Indian television produced some of the best content back then. Currently, it’s second part ‘Uttar Ramayan‘ is being aired on Doordarshan and it is being showered with an equal amount of love from the viewers. Originally aired in 1988, ‘Uttar Ramayan’ revolves around the life of Luv and Kush and their confrontation and reunion with their father Lord Ram.

Owing to the nationwide lockdown, I&B Ministry announced that ‘Ramayan’ will be re-telecast on Doordarshan. And ever since then, the TRP ratings of the channel has hit the roof. Last night, as Luv Kush reunited with their father Lord Ram, it left the viewers teary-eyed. Swapnil Joshi essayed the role of Kush and Mayuresh Kshetramade played the role of Luv. But that was 32 years back! Check out how those two child actors look now.

Swwapnil Joshi played Kush 

Swwapnil played the role of Kush, Ram and Sita’s elder son. Interestingly, the show marked his debut as a child actor. Later he went on to play young Krishna in Ramanand Sagar’s ‘Krishna’. He featured in some of the most popular Hindi shows like ‘Hudd Kar Di’, ‘Dil Vil Pyar Vyar’, ‘Des Mein Nikalla Hoga Chand’ to name a few. Today 43-year-old Swwapnil is one of the most successful actors in the Marathi film industry. He also plays the lead in Marathi serials as well. He was last seen in ‘Mogra Phulaalaa’ and the TV series ‘Jeevlaga’.

Mayuresh Kshetramade played Luv

Mayuresh essayed the role of Luv in the mythological show. Though he earned popularity after doing this show but post that he remained away from the limelight. He went on to co-author a book titled ‘Spite and Development’. Mayuresh gave up his acting career and if the latest reports are anything to by then he is currently a businessman and is reportedly the CEO of  Commission Junction Affiliate. He has moved to New Jersey (America).

Created and directed by Ramanand Sagar, ‘Uttar Ramayan’ covers the Uttara Kanda part of the ancient Indian epic Ramayan. Tonight, its last episode will be aired on Doordarshan.
