Emraan Hashmi-led ‘Showtime’ Makes It To The Top Of Disney+ Hotstar’s Hindi Shows

Disney+ Hotstar’s latest offer, ‘Showtime’ is wowing the audiences and the makers couldn’t be happier. Starring Emraan Hashmi, Mahima Makwana, Mouni Roy and Rajeev Khandelwal in lead roles, the 4-episodes long series explores the underbelly of Bollywood and focuses on topics such as corruption and nepotism in the industry as well as the constant struggle of outsiders to find their footing and stay relevant.

The drama television series, which has Emraan’s character Raghu Khanna boldly saying, “Nepotism ke mukhaute ke picche, aakhir mein har outsider, insider banna chahta hai,” is receiving immense love and is now at the No. 1 spot in on the platform in India (Hindi).

‘Showtime’ – which explores the dark side of glamour, is backed by Karan Johar’s Dharmatic Entertainment, the same production house behind the KJo’s hit talk show, Koffee With Karan. Just like KWK, this Emraan Hashmi, Mahima Makwana, Mouni Roy and Rajeev Khandelwal co-starrer has also struck a chord with the audiences leading to making it to the #1 spot on Disney+ Hotstar in India’s Hindi section.  

But why is it #1? In our review of ‘Showtime,’ we noted that while the show sheds light on both the business and glamour of the entertainment industry, it also lacks the ‘oomph’ factor one would expect the showbiz world. Despite these shortcomings, it seems the show – thanks to its intriguing story, talented performances, twists and good production quality has impressed the viewers making it #1 show on Disney+ Hotstar (Hindi)

Released on March 8, Showtime features a stellar cast including Emraan Hashmi, Mahima Makwana, Mouni Roy, Rajeev Khandelwal, Shriya Saran, Vijay Raaz, Naseeruddin Shah and more. The Dharmatic Entertainment series is directed by Mihir Desai and Archit Kumar.
