Did Kangana Ranaut insist the makers of ‘Mental Hai Kya’ to push its release date?
Kangana Ranaut, who is riding high on the success of her last release ‘Manikarnika: The Queen Of Jhansi’. She will be next seen in comedy-thriller ‘Mental Hai Kya’. The film was supposed to hit the screens on March 29, but looks like it is going to be postponed again. Yes, according to the latest buzz Kangana has requested director Prakash Kovelamudi to postpone the film’s release.
According to a report in Mid-day, ‘Mental Hai Kya’ will now release in May this year. The publication reported that the ‘Manikarnika’ actress has insisted the makers to push ahead the release date of the film as she wants to take some rest and have a gap between her last release and upcoming film.
Talking about Kangana’s request, a source told the tabloid, “After the success of ‘Manikarnika’, Kangana wanted to space out her next film. ‘Mental Hai Kya’ was coming exactly two months after ‘Manikarnika’s release, which implied that she would have to immediately dive into the film’s promotions. She requested the makers for a breather as the period drama had taken a toll on her.”
Revealing more about the film, the source also said that there are some portions of ‘Mental Hai Kya’ which is yet to be shot. “The makers, therefore, decided that it would be best to push the release to May. However, they are yet to zero in on a date,” the source added.
In the film, Kangana and Rajkummar Rao will be reuniting after their super hit film ‘Queen’ that released in 2014. Produced by Ekta Kapoor, ‘Mental Hai Kya’ also features Amyra Dastur, Jimmy Shergill, Amrita Puri and Mimoh Chakraborty in supporting roles.
