69th National Film Awards: Alia Bhatt receives the Best Actress award for Gangubai Kathiawadi- WATCH

The 69^th National Film Awards is currently underway at the Vigyan Bhawan in Delhi. Alia Bhatt, who has been winning hearts lately, received her National Award from the President of India, Droudpadi Murmu. This is her first National Award. The smile on her face while receiving the award says it all. Alia Bhatt received the Best Actress National award for her performance in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Gangubai Kathiawadi.

Given that the day is special, Alia wore her wedding saree. Alia Bhatt was all smiles as she went on stage to receive her first Best Actress National award.

Alia’s performance in SLB’s Gangubai Kathiawadi was terrific. The actress played the titular role in Gangubai Kathiawadi. She won hearts as Gangubai. For the uninitiated, Alia jointly bagged the Best Actress award with Kriti Sanon, who won for her performance in Mimi.

Earlier today, Alia was spotted at the airport with husband, actor Ranbir Kapoor at the airport. The couple kept it causal yet stylish. Ranbir proved he is wife Alia’s biggest supporter as he joined her for the special day.

In September, Alia shared a special post on Instagram celebrating her National Award win. The actress thanked Sanja Leela Bhansali, her family and fans for their love. A part of her caption read, “I am SO grateful… I do not take moments like these lightly… I hope to continue to entertain for as long as you can.”

Alia Bhatt’s journey in Bollywood

Alia made her Bollywood debut with Karan Johar’s Student of the Year. Post that, there was no looking back for her. Alia has proved her versatility as an actress by taking up challenging projects. She has appeared in films like Brahmastra: Part One – Shiva, Darlings, RRR, Raazi, Badrinath Ki Dulhania, and Gangubai Kathiawadi among others.

Alia last delivered a terrific performance as Rani Chatterjee in Karan Johar’s Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani co-starring Ranveer Singh. The actress also made her Hollywood debut with Heart of Stone co-starring Gal Gadot and Jamie Dornan. Alia will be next seen in Jigra. Apart from starring in it, Alia is also co-producing her upcoming movie.
