Akshay Kumar starrer Soorarai Pottru remake gets a NEW release date

The month of July started with many big announcements, new release dates and a whole lot of excitement in Bollywood. In this span, Akshay Kumar announced Housefull 5 with its release date. Now, he has blocked a new date for his Soorarai Pottru Hindi remake, pushing its original release plan.

Akshay Kumar gets new release date for Soorarai Pottru Hindi remake

The yet-untitled film was earlier supposed to release on September 1, 2023. Akshay had made the official announcement on his social media a while ago regarding the same. Being called ‘Production No, 27’ for now, the film’s release has now been pushed as the actor also has an August release. Akshay’s OMG 2 will be hitting the theatres on August 11, 2023, clashing with Gadar 2.

Trade analyst Taran Adarsh announced that to maintain at least a 4 month gap between his theatrical releases, Akshay has decided to push Soorarai Pottru remake. The film will now release on February 16, 2024. It also stars Radhika Madan and Paresh Rawal. It is directed by Sudha Kongara Prasad who also helmed the Tamil original.

Soorarai Pottru remake details

The movie is a fictionalised version of a book named Simply Fly. It is based on the life of Air Deccan founder Capt. G. R. Gopinath. The Tamil original released in 2020 and featured Suriya in the lead. It also starred Aparna Balamurali, Paresh Rawal and Mohan Babu.

Soorarai Pottru is a story of Nedumaaran Rajangam aka Maara, played by Suriya. He sets out to make the common man fly and takes on the world’s most capital-intensive industry in the process, with the help of his family, friends and will power.

Akshay Kumar upcoming movies

Akshay has many interesting projects in the pipeline in different stages of production. Starting with OMG 2, he then has The Great Indian Rescue with Parineeti Chopra. It will be followed by Soorarai Pottru remake in Feb and Bade Miyan Chote Miyan on Eid 2024. He has also blocked Diwali 2024 for Housefull 5.
