Alia Bhatt on Oscar voting body’s invitation: Movies are the glue that binds the fragmented world

Bollywood’s handsome hunk Hrithik Roshan and talented actress Alia Bhatt along with other members of the film industry have been invited to join the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. Today expressing her gratitude over the invitation, Alia took to her social media handle and wrote how honoured and humbled she is feeling right now.

Taking to her Instagram handle, Alia wrote how there’s a deep satisfaction in seeing that the voice of Indian cinema is finding a very well deserved platform on the world stage.

In her post, the ‘Raazi’ actress wrote, “Every year, more actors, filmmakers and technicians from India are recognized by the Academy and Indian cinema continues to reach the hearts and homes of people all over the world.

She further added, “I truly believe that cinema, like water, finds its level;. And, like water, it knows no race, class, border or geography and flows freely. It takes everything in its course: audiences who passionately love or hate it, critics who dissect it, students who immerse themselves in it.”

“Our opinions about films may be divided, but cinema as a whole is a powerful binding and unifying force. In a world that can be unsure and fragmented, at a time when the very social media that is meant to connect people ends up dividing them, movies are the glue that binds us, “ she concluded.

The actress shared her post alongside the hashtag ‘We are the Academy’. Soon she was showered with love from Dia Mirza, Ishaan Khatter, Vijay Varma, Jacqueline Fernandez to name a few.

Apart from Alia and Hrithik, costume designer Neeta Lulla, documentary filmmakers Nishtha Jain and Amit Madheshiya, casting director Nandini Shrikent, visual effects supervisors Vishal Anand and Sandeep Kamal have also been invited by The Academy this year.

Artistes from 68 countries have been invited and those who accept this invitation will have voting rights at the 93rd Academy Awards which will be held 2021.
