Raazi was based on Harinder Sikka’s 2008 novel, Calling Sehmat, which is based on a true story. It featured Alia in the role of Sehmat, who follows her father’s footsteps and becomes a RAW agent for the Indian government and marries into a military family in Pakistan to relay information to India, prior to the Indo-Pakistani War of 1971. The actress brought the innocence and softness needed from her character but also the bravery and courage required in her demeanour, all so effortlessly. The film also featured Rajit Kapur, Shishir Sharma, Soni Razdan. Jaideep Ahlawat and Amruta Khanvilkar in supporting roles.
