The constant war of words between Kangana Ranaut, Taapsee Pannu and Anurag Kashyap don’t seem to come to an end anytime soon. Anurag recently revealed that when Kangana was offered ‘Saand Ki Aankh’, she wanted it to be turned into a solo lead film. The biographical drama was based on the lives of octogenarian sharpshooters Chandro and Prakashi Tomar.

Eventually, Taapsee Pannu and Bhumi Pednekar played the roles of 80 plus characters Chandro and Prakashi. Ironically, last year when the film was announced, Kangana’s sister Rangoli had claimed that the actress had rejected the film as she felt older actresses like Neena Gupta or Ramya Krishnan would do more justice to the role. Now read on to know exactly why Kangana had rejected the film according to its producer Anurag.

In a recent interview with NDTV, Kashyap revealed that when director Tushar Hiranandani narrated the film ‘Saand Ki Aankh’ to Kangana, she had liked the script. However later she rejected the film as she didn’t want to do a two heroine project.

“When Saand Ki Aankh script was pitched by Tushar to Kangana, she said the story is great but what is the need for two characters? Make them one and young and I will do it. All her films have now become about herself. She thinks probably that is how stars make films. She is such a big star but is she empowering people?” asked Kashyap in his recent interview.

After Anurag’s revelation, earlier today BBC journalist, Haroon Rashid took to Twitter and wrote, “Thank God #SaandKiAankh and the Shooter Dadi’s were not merged into one character otherwise we wouldn’t have seen such fantastic performances by @taapsee and @bhumipednekar together! One of the best films 2019, go watch it if you haven’t already!”

Replying to him, Taapsee said, “Thank you Haroon 🙂 the reality can’t be twisted so badly”

Now that Anurag, who was one of the producers of ‘Saand Ki Aankh’ has revealed the truth, we wonder what Kangana has to say. She had rejected the film saying it is promoting sexism and agism in the name feminism. Over to you Kangana.
