Last Saturday, as married women were celebrating Karva Chauth by keeping fast for the long-life of their husbands, Ayushmann fasted for his wife, as Tahira couldn’t do it since she is undergoing chemotherapy. Talking to Mumbai Mirror about fasting for his wife’s well-being, Ayushmann said that every year they both fast, but this year he went ahead alone and Tahira was really touched by his gesture.

“It was kind of a role reversal in this patriarchal world but came straight from the heart. Even on my family WhatsApp group, everyone was giving us their blessings,” said the ‘Badhaai Ho’ actor.

Talking about Tahira’s health, the actor revealed, “She has a great fighting spirit. Chemotherapy is not easy as it has some side effects like mood swings and sleeplessness. But she’s going through with it as a precautionary measure because she is young and we don’t want the cancer to return. Some doctors told us that it’s not mandatory, but we wanted to go aggressive with the treatment. This is a mild procedure of 12 cycles with one every week and she is coping well.”

Now you know why Ayushmann stands apart from his peers? Well because he is different in his real life as well. We are praying for a speedy recovery of Tahira and we are so glad that we have real heroes like Ayushamnn in Bollywood who is breaking stereotypes on-screen as well as off-screen.
