Irrfan Khan would have turned 54 today. His family and fans are still trying to digest the fact that he is no more. Today on Irrfan’s birth anniversary, his elder son Babil penned a heartfelt post and shared how the actor never encouraged his children to remember his birthday nor did he remembered their’s.

Babil went on to say that this year no matter how much he tried he could not forget his birthday. Remembering how his father never identified with institutions such as contractual marriage and birthday celebrations, Babil wrote, “You never identified with institutions such as contractual marriage and birthday celebrations. Perhaps, that is why I don’t remember anyone’s birthdays because you never remembered mine and never encouraged me to remember yours.”

He further added, “It was just normal to us what seemed absurd from the outside, we celebrated every day (bringing personal experiential authenticity to the cliche). On the occasion, Mamma would have to remind us both; but this time I could not forget yours if I tried. It’s your birthday Baba. Shoutout to all the technologically inept parents, notice that they did not finish saying that they miss me.”

Alongside the message, Babil also shared a cute throwback video of  Irrfan, his mother Sutapa Sikdar and younger brother Ayaan trying to Facetime with him and telling him how much they missed him. In the video, both Sutapa and Irrfan are trying to convey their message to Babil via the recorded video but due to some technical issue, they couldn’t connect with him. Babil’s younger brother Ayaan is seen laughing at their parents’ failed attempts.
