Bhooth Bangla 2: Ektaa Kapoor Plans Sequel After Akshay Kumar, Priyadarshan’s Horror Comedy Success- Report

Amid Bhooth Bangla’s success in theatres, Ekta Kapoor is reportedly already contemplating a sequel, aka Bhooth Bangla 2, to the Akshay Kumar-starrer horror-comedy. Directed by Priyadarshan, Bhooth Bangla was released on April 17. Akshay Kumar and director Priyadarshan recently reunited after a long hiatus for their latest horror comedy, which hit screens on April 17. While the film received a mixed response from critics, it struck a chord with a segment of the audience, who enjoyed the film in theatres after quite some time. Recent reports suggest that this positive reception has motivated the makers to consider creating a sequel.

Bhooth Bangla 2 On The Cards?

According to an IndiaToday report, a source close to the development revealed, “Given the love and response that Bhooth Bangla has received from families, the makers are definitely exploring the idea of taking the franchise forward. It’s an exciting space, and thus a sequel looks very much on the cards.” Although the project is still in its early stages, the source added that Ekta Kapoor’s interest in the horror-comedy genre is driving her to revisit this world with more stories.

The story centres on Arjun, played by Akshay Kumar, who inherits a haunted ancestral mansion in the quiet village of Mangalpur. As he prepares for his sister Meera’s wedding, portrayed by Mithila Palkar, supernatural events begin to unfold, disrupting their plans.
