At the song launch of Border 2’s Ghar Kab Aaoge at Longewala, Rajasthan, producer Nidhi Dutta shared a deeply personal memory rooted in legacy, sacrifice and cinema. Recalling her uncle Squadron Leader Deepak Dutta’s role in the historic Longewala battle, she connected the song’s emotion to her family’s armed forces background. Her words traced how a grandmother’s wartime prayers inspired the iconic song.
Nidhi Dutta On Border 2 Making And Special Memory
When asked if there is any special memory while making Border 2, producer Nidhi Dutta shared, “Jinhone subah aake Pakistani tanks ko defeat kiya tha, unmein se ek shaks the jinka naam tha Squadron Leader Deepak Dutta, jo mere papa ke chhote bhai the—mere chacha the. And he was in the Air Force. He was also part of the Longewala battle. Jab woh yudh se wapas aaye the, unhone papa ko yeh kahani batayi thi. Papa ne college ke time ek rough book mein yeh kahani likhi thi—jo unki first film ka base bani.”
She continued, “Toh is gaane se, is film se aur is mitti se jo humare family ka rishta hai, woh bahut purana hai. Toh yeh film unke liye bhi hai. First film toh unke liye dedicated thi hi, but yeh film aur har film jo hum banate hain, woh unke liye hai. Iss gaane ke saath, I don’t think mujhe yahan khade hoke apni koi personal memory share karni chahiye.”
Nidhi On Ghar Kab Aaoge Song
Dutta shared, “Jab yeh gaana pehli baar bana tha, tab Javed sahab, Anu Malik ji aur papa saath baithe the. ‘Ghar kab aaoge?’ ka jo thought tha, woh wahan se aaya, jab 1971 ki war ke dauraan meri dadi radio ke paas baithkar sunti rehti thi—bas is umeed mein ki kahin Deepak chacha ka naam aajaye, ya yeh pata chale ki woh shaheedon mein shamil hain ya nahi. Aur jab bhi unka naam nahi aata tha, toh woh radio band kar deti thi aur mudkar apne doosre bete—mere papa—ko dekh kar kehti thi, ‘Mera beta ghar aayega.’ Yeh baat papa ke zehan mein reh gayi. Jab Border bani, toh papa ne yeh baat Javed sahab ko batayi, aur isi se is gaane ka janm hua.”
Concluding, she said, “So yes, I am part of all of you because I come from an armed forces family as well. And we make movies for you. We will always make movies for you and tell your stories. We are forever indebted to what you do for us, and we will always stand here for you all. So yes, more than my memory, I think Papa ki memory is song se zyada judi hui hai, meri memory se bhi zyada. But my memory of this place is that I came here to celebrate my eighth birthday when my father was shooting. And Sunny uncle was part of my birthday of mine.”
