Kangana Ranaut Karan Johar

Kangana Ranaut has often made headlines for her outspoken views on Bollywood’s inner workings, especially on topics like nepotism and industry politics. Over the years, her equation with Karan Johar has remained one of the most talked-about dynamics in the industry. However, nearly a decade after their very public fallout, Kangana now appears to have softened her stance. In a recent interaction, she reflected on their past differences and said she no longer views Karan in a negative light, signalling a shift in perspective.

Kangana Ranaut Admits She’s Made Peace With ‘Superficial’ Karan Johar Following 9 Years Feud

Speaking to ANI, Kangana Ranaut addressed her current equation with Karan and made it clear that she has moved on from the bitterness of the past. She said, “I have made peace with him. I don’t think Karan Johar is a bad person. You know, I think he’s very proudly just superficial, flaky and flashy. He likes that. He’s very proud of that, and I think he has an amazing sense of humour. It is just that he has this attitude, ‘You can’t sit with us.’ So I don’t think I have a problem with Karan Johar.”

Kangana Ranaut On Working With Shah Rukh Khan

During the same conversation, Kangana also spoke about her interactions with Shah Rukh Khan and shared a contrasting experience. She praised the superstar for his personality and upbringing. “Shah Rukh is the most pleasant person you will ever meet. He is very well brought up. His mother was a magistrate, and I think she has a great influence on him. He is very chivalrous with women,” she said.

The actress further revealed that she did receive opportunities to work with Shah Rukh Khan earlier in her career. However, her priorities shifted over time. “I had some opportunity to work with him, but by that time I was over this whole thing wanted to act with heroes,” she explained. When asked why she never collaborated with the three Khans—Shah Rukh, Salman Khan, and Aamir Khan—she added, “There was a time when I wanted to, but then I was just over it.”

What Happened Between Kangana Ranaut And Karan Johar?

The tension between Kangana and Karan dates back to her appearance on Koffee with Karan in 2017, where she famously called him the “flagbearer of nepotism.” The remark sparked a massive industry-wide debate around favouritism and groupism in Bollywood. Soon after, Karan responded strongly in interviews, criticising Kangana for what he described as playing the victim card. Their public exchanges intensified the conversation around insider versus outsider dynamics in the industry.

Over the years, Kangana continued to criticise certain camps in Bollywood and often reiterated her stance against nepotism. She even described Karan as “very snooty” and “classist” in earlier interviews. However, her latest remarks suggest a more measured outlook, as she acknowledges their differences while choosing not to hold onto past grievances.

Kangana Ranaut’s latest comments reflect a noticeable shift in tone. While she continues to stand by her views on nepotism, she now approaches her past conflict with Karan Johar with more clarity and distance. At the same time, her praise for Shah Rukh Khan highlights how her experiences in the industry have shaped her perspective over the years.
