Deepak Tijori has voiced his criticism of the CBFC’s decision to “half-mute” certain curse words in the adult film Dhurandhar 2, aka Dhurandhar The Revenge, questioning the logic behind such censorship. The film, directed by Aditya Dhar, has become a massive hit since its release, breaking box office records and earning praise from audiences and celebrities alike. Amid the widespread buzz, Tijori took to Instagram to express his confusion over the CBFC’s approach to muting only parts of the expletives, leaving others audible.
Deepak Tijori SLAMS CBFC’s Logic Of ‘Half-Muted’ Cuss Words In Dhurandhar 2
On Thursday, he shared a black screen with Dhurandhar Part 2: The Revenge written on it, accompanied by a small red heart. In his caption, Tijori wrote, “I must admit… maybe I’m missing something. Maybe I just don’t have the kind of intellect that the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) or its members possess. Because I genuinely don’t understand this — why mute half the abuses and leave the rest? Sometimes, keep some words and fully mute others?”
He continued, “Especially since the film is already certified 18+, clearly meant for adults. So who exactly are we protecting here? And from what… a half-word? Then, within a month or two, the same film releases on OTT… completely unmuted… exactly as it was meant to be. And that’s when kids can watch it at home, sitting with family… with everything fully audible.”
Concluding, Tijori said, “So I’m just trying to understand, honestly, how smart it is to ‘half-mute’ content in theatres for adults, when the same thing plays in full volume at home soon after? Maybe there’s a logic I’m missing… or maybe, just maybe… we’re overthinking the wrong things.”
