Dhurandhar 2 Director Aditya Dhar Issues Legal Notice Against Santosh Kumar RS

Aditya Dhar has issued a legal notice to Santosh Kumar RS after he accused the makers of Dhurandhar 2 of copying his story. Dhar denies the allegations and has taken legal steps to counter the claims. The controversy has reignited discussions around originality and intellectual property rights within the film industry.

Santosh Kumar RS claims that Dhurandhar 2 is a copy of a script he registered in 2023. He told HT City, “They manipulated my project, my script, and exploited me. I have proof from the Screenwriters Association.”

In response, a source states, “Aditya Dhar’s legal team has already sent a notice to Santosh Kumar, denying the allegations and asking him to stop making false claims. Since Santosh continues to level baseless accusations, Dhar is preparing to pursue appropriate legal action.”

Santosh, however, says he only received an email reply from the production team, not a formal legal notice. “It’s just a response to my email. They’re harassing me, saying I shouldn’t complain and that I’m defaming them for publicity. I told them I’ll see them in court.”

Santosh Kumar Alleges Similarities Between Dhurandhar 2, D Saheb

Santosh alleges similarities between Dhurandhar The Revenge and his script titled D-Saheb. He describes his story as about a young man whose family is attacked by criminals, leading him to seek revenge. The protagonist, the son of a former Army officer, kills ten people, gets arrested, but is later sent to Pakistan as a RAW agent to combat terrorism, inspired by political propaganda. Santosh claims Dhar’s film only borrows the main plot points of his story. “Aditya Dhar is very clever; he took only the core elements and added political messaging,” he said.

He also states he tried to contact Dhar directly but was unsuccessful. Instead, he approached Jio Studios, who referred him to B62 Studios. Santosh plans to file a case against them, asserting that the producers are harassing him for making his story public. “I told them, ‘Come and answer me legally,’” he added.

The producers have not responded publicly. The HT City source explains, “Santosh’s claims that Dhurandhar’s story is stolen or infringes on his rights are entirely false. The story was an original creation by Aditya Dhar, who registered it with the Screenwriters Association in September 2023. Santosh, however, claims he registered his script only in November 2023.”

What Is The Contorversy?

Previously, Santosh alleged that Dhurandhar 2’s plot was lifted from his 2023 script, which he registered with the SWA and pitched to several production houses. He only realized the similarities after watching the film, which has become a box office hit. He asserts that key elements of the story closely resemble his work and claims to have supporting documentation, including registration records and email exchanges.

The situation has escalated with Aditya Dhar now pursuing legal action. A notice has been sent to Santosh Kumar RS, challenging his claims and requesting clarification. This indicates Dhar’s firm stance against the plagiarism allegations.

The controversy comes at a time when Dhurandhar 2 is enjoying significant commercial success and widespread attention. The film, featuring Ranveer Singh, has been praised for its scale and storytelling, despite ongoing scrutiny over certain themes.

While Santosh maintains that he has evidence to support his claims, the makers of Dhurandhar 2 have not publicly admitted any wrongdoing. The legal notice signals a strong pushback against what they see as unfounded accusations.

As the case unfolds, it could lead to a prolonged legal battle, highlighting the challenges writers face in safeguarding their work in a competitive environment. With both parties standing firm, the dispute is likely to attract ongoing attention, especially given the film’s high-profile status and box office success.
