Fawad Khan in MS Dhoni

Sushant Singh Rajput starrer ‘MS Dhoni: The Untold Story’ hit the theatres last Friday and has been garnering amazing response at the box office. The movie saw Sushant in the best of forms, but not everyone knows the fact that the film also had Fawad Khan playing a pivotal role.

Now you may wonder why Fawad was no where to be seen in the film? Well, his role was chopped off at the last minute.

Fawad was said to be essaying the role of Indian cricketer and test captain Virat Kohli, but since he wasn’t seen in the film, it was speculated that the reports might have been false. But that was not the case. Fawad was very much a part of the film and had even shot for his part with director Neeraj Pandey and lead actor Sushant Singh Rajput. His scene was an important part of the flick too, but after the Uri attacks and ban on Pakistani artistes happened, Neeraj took an impromptu decision to delete Fawad’s role completely. He wanted his film to stay out of any controversy.

A source confirms, “Neeraj Pandey didn’t want any negative publicity or controversy around  the film. Though Fawad Khan’s character was an integral part of the film, but it wasn’t as important as that of MS Dhoni’s. So he thought it’s better to do away with the Fawad’s portions in the film than face the ire of this controversy. Neeraj didn’t want the focus of the film to shift from MS Dhoni and Sushant Singh Rajput to Fawad Khan, Virat Kohli and Pakistan. Fawad Khan wasn’t even aware about his part being omitted until the movie released.”

Now it’s Karan Johar’s ‘Ae Dil Hai Mushkil’ that is facing the wrath, as it has Fawad in an extended role.
