Ranveer Singh reportedly criticised Farhan Akhtar and Excel Entertainment for unprofessional behaviour regarding Don 3, alleging that they considered replacing him with Hrithik Roshan. Recently, Singh withdrew from one of the most highly anticipated projects, Don 3, directed by Farhan Akhtar and produced by Excel. Following Singh’s exit and claims that Excel demanded compensation from him, a new report sheds light on what happened behind the scenes after the fallout.
Ranveer Singh SLAMS Farhan Akhtar After Don 3 Exit
According to Variety India, a source explained, “From the beginning, it was clarified that the intention was not to target or blame anyone personally. The discussion focused on a broader industry issue: what options a filmmaker has after investing heavily in a project when the lead actor drops out. The stakeholders also looked at the situation from the actor’s perspective and discussed measures producers can implement to avoid similar issues in the future.”
The source further revealed, “Ranveer blamed Excel Entertainment for unprofessionalism and for not taking the project seriously enough to start filming. He stated that Farhan Akhtar never had a finalised script and emphasised that, as an actor, he prefers to work only with fully developed material.”
“Ranveer also pointed out that Farhan was unwilling to accept feedback on the script and had trouble incorporating certain subplots. He additionally alleged that Excel was exploring the possibility of bringing Hrithik Roshan on board and only approached him again after the success of Dhurandhar, aiming to capitalise on his rising popularity,” the source added.
Details Of The Fallout
A report by Bollywood Hungama suggests that after the disagreement, two secret meetings were held involving some of the industry’s most influential figures. The first meeting saw senior producers discussing the circumstances surrounding Ranveer’s exit and the broader implications for producers when a film stalls at an advanced stage. The second meeting included notable personalities like Aamir Khan, Siddharth Roy Kapur, Ramesh Taurani, and Kumar Taurani, who discussed Ranveer’s position and prospects.
Is Don 3 On Hold?
Weeks after Ranveer Singh’s departure, reports indicate that Farhan Akhtar may have decided to put Don 3 on hold. According to Pinkvilla, Akhtar is hesitant to rush the casting process and has chosen to delay making a final decision. Instead, he plans to focus on Jee Le Zaraa, starring Priyanka Chopra, Alia Bhatt, and Katrina Kaif, which is currently his priority.
