He recently met the association’s officials and submitted documents and other material putting forward the actor’s side of the case. Don 3 dispute takes a fresh turn as Ranveer Singh’s father challenges Rs 45 crore damages claim.

Jagjit Singh Bhavnani Meets IMPPA Amid Don 3 Controversy

According to India Today, Ranveer’s father Jagjit Singh Bhavnani met IMPPA representatives on Tuesday. He presented the actor’s side of the case, along with supporting documents. The association’s legal team will now review the material before deciding on the next steps and whether the matter can be resolved amicably. IMPPA President Abhay Sinha confirmed that Ranveer’s legal team was prepared to participate in proceedings. With submissions from both sides now in place, IMPPA will examine the details before deciding how to proceed.

How The Don 3 Dispute Began?

The controversy started with Ranveer Singh’s exit from Don 3, where he was announced as the new lead in August 2023, replacing Shah Rukh Khan from the previous films. After the success of Dhurandhar, Ranveer reportedly informed Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani that he did not wish to continue with the project, just weeks before the scheduled overseas shoot.

Following his exit, Excel Entertainment approached FWICE (Federation of Western India Cine Employees). They presented their case, and Ranveer’s team was asked to respond. In May, FWICE issued a non-cooperation directive against Ranveer. It was later withdrawn after discussions involving FWICE, IMPPA, the Producers Guild of India, and CINTAA. Ranveer’s spokesperson emphasized his professional approach, stating he chose to remain silent and handle the issue with dignity.

Excel Entertainment’s Rs 45 Crore Claim

Excel’s damages claim is based on Ranveer’s signed contract, promotional material, and his expressed excitement about working on Don 3. The dispute had reached an impasse when Ranveer’s lawyer questioned IMPPA’s jurisdiction. However, with Jagjit Singh Bhavnani submitting Ranveer’s side, the association is now reviewing both sides’ materials before deciding on further action.

Meanwhile, Ranveer has shifted his focus to his next project, Pralay. It is a zombie thriller directed by Jai Mehta, starring Kalyani Priyadarshan. The film recently began shooting in Mumbai, having been moved from Australia to stay closer to his wife Deepika Padukone. They prepare to welcome their second child.
