Dostana 2: Former Miss India World Sini Shetty To Lead Vikrant Massey, Lakshya’s Rom-Com Sequel- Report

Karan Johar’s film Dostana 2 has been one of the most discussed projects since its announcement a few years ago. Initially, the film was announced with Kartik Aaryan, Janhvi Kapoor, and Lakshya in the lead roles. However, Kartik Aaryan later exited the project despite shooting for around 15-20 days. Following his departure, Janhvi Kapoor also stepped away from the film. Vikrant Massey has now replaced Kartik, while Lakshya has been part of the project from the beginning. The latest update reveals that the filmmakers have also finalised the female lead. Reportedly, former Miss India World Sini Shetty has been cast as the female protagonist in this romantic comedy.

As per Variety India, the makers considered three names before settling on Sini Shetty for the role. This will be her acting debut. She was crowned Miss India World in 2022 and has always aspired to pursue a career in acting. Sini is excited to debut with a film that is part of such a prominent banner. The report also mentions that she has signed on for another small-budget thriller, though details about that project remain under wraps. Earlier reports suggested that Pratibha Ranta, known for Laapataa Ladies, was being considered for the lead role. However, with the latest developments, it appears she has been replaced by Shetty.

Vikrant Massey On Dostana 2

For those unaware, Dostana 2 was previously put on hold due to creative differences between Kartik Aaryan and Karan Johar. Although the two have since reconciled, Kartik has not returned to the franchise and has been replaced by Vikrant Massey. Confirming the news, Massey told Times Now, “You will see me doing that soon. I think this news is already out. I don’t know why I’m not talking about it. I’m doing Dostana 2. It’s my first Dharma film.”

He further shared that the film will showcase him in a completely new avatar. “In this film, you’ll see me wearing stylish designer clothes. Karan sir will ensure I sport fashionable outfits and trendy sunglasses. We’ll be shooting somewhere in Europe,” he added. When asked about his co-star, the “Desi Girl” in the film, Massey chose not to reveal any details.

Who Is Sini Shetty?

Sini Sadanand Shetty is an Indian beauty pageant titleholder who was crowned Femina Miss India World in 2022. She represented India at Miss World 2023. Born in Mumbai with roots in Karnataka, she holds a bachelor’s degree in accounting and finance from SK Somaiya College in Mumbai. She is also a trained Bharatanatyam dancer and completed her Arangetram at the age of 14.
