ED Raids Dino Morea’s Mumbai Residence In Connection With Rs 65 Cr Mithi River Desilting Scam

Dino Morea is known for his close association with Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Aaditya Thackeray. He is now under scrutiny as the ED reviews financial documents and other materials seized during the raids to trace the flow of illicit funds. These searches are part of a money laundering investigation under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA). It was following the case filed by the Mumbai Police’s Economic Offences Wing.

Earlier, the EOW booked 13 individuals. It included BMC officials and contractors for their alleged roles in fraudulent payments related to river cleaning work that was never performed between 2007 and 2021. Investigators suspect that tenders for renting specialised dredging equipment were rigged to favour certain suppliers. This caused significant financial losses to the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC). The Mithi River flows through Mumbai and drains into the Arabian Sea. It has long suffered from desilting and flooding problems.
