Vicky Kaushal is an actor par excellence and there are no two opinions on that. After portraying intense roles, he proved his versatility with comic character in Govinda Mera Naam and The Great Indian Family. Vicky Kaushal is currently gearing up for the release of biographical drama Sam Bahadur. To note, Vicky will essay the role of Army officer Sam Manekshaw. He will be donning the army officer’s uniform for third time. Ever since his first look was revealed, fans and netizens just could not take the eyes off his nuanced appearance.

Times when Vicky Kaushal played army officer

Vicky Kaushal’s portrayal of army officers onscreen has been authentic – be it Major Vihaan Shergill in Uri: The Surgical Strike or a Pakistani army man Iqbal in Raazi. Talking about URI, the film got him critical acclaim and he even won national award for his portrayal. His dialogue ‘Hows the josh’ is still remembered by the audience.

The actor tried to break stereotype about Pakistani Military officer with his role in Raazi which starrer Alia Bhatt alongside him. His attention to detail and commendable physical transformation brought a sense of realism to his characters. The effortless portrayal and sincerity with which he plays the role is quite palpable.

Now, fans are eagerly awaiting his return to the army uniform in Meghna Gulzar’s directorial Sam Bahadur in which he once again steps into the shoes of an army officer. He will play the role of legendary Field Marshal Sam Manekshaw. His decision to wear the army uniform onscreen once more reflects his respect for the armed forces.

About Sam Bahadur

This biography is based on the life of Sam Manekshaw who was the Chief of the Army Staff of the Indian Army during the Indo-Pakistani War of 1971, and the first Indian Army officer to be promoted to the rank of field marshal. Directed by Meghna Gulzar, the biographical drama will also stars Fatima Sana Shaikh, and Sanya Malhotra in pivotal roles. It will release on 1st December, 2023.

For the uninitiated, Vicky’s film will clash with Ranbir Kapoor starrer Animal. The Sandeep Reddy Vanga directorial also stars Rashmika Mandanna, Anil Kapoor and Bobby Deol.
