Jacqueline Fernandez Withdraws Plea In SC Amid Rs 200 Cr Money Laundering Case
As per PTI, a bench of Justices B V Nagarathna and Joymalya Bagchi allowed Jacqueline’s petition to be withdrawn. The news agency suggests that they mentioned that the counsel for Jacqueline sought permission to withdraw the special petition leave, along with the liberty to avail appropriate remedy in accordance with the law. Eventually, the Supreme Court apparently granted permission to withdraw the petition. As per LiveLaw, the Rs 200 crore money laundering case dates back to 2021. A woman named Aditi Singh had allegedly filed a complaint claiming that she had been cheated of nearly Rs 200 crore in a syndicate led by Sukesh.
Jacqueline was rumoured to have received gifts and benefits worth Rs 5.71 crore. The list of the expensive gifts allegedly included watches, luxury bags, foreign fund transfers, vehicles for family members, and more. The Enforcement Directorate had apparently lodged a money laundering case under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA). The case was reported to be lodged based on the predicate offence registered by the Delhi police. The report further suggests that Sukesh, as per ED, used the proceeds of crime to purchase luxurious and expensive gifts for Bollywood celebrities.
