Jogi is set in the Delhi from the ’80s, in the backdrop of the 1984 anti-Sikh riots that were fuelled by the assassination of Prime Minister Indira Gandhi by her Sikh bodyguards. He has to cut his hair to prevent himself from getting killed by the angry mob. For the performances in the film, Diljit is at the top of his game as he portrays the innocence, agony, anger and sadness of his character quite effectively. His eyes are piercing and keep you hooked to them. The actor is a known bonafide artist and with this film, he seems to have taken his level up a notch. He makes you feel the emotions of Jogi’s journey and you can’t help but feel for him. Amyra Dastur plays Diljit’s lover, and she brings in the charisma the character demands.
