John Abraham emphasised the importance of collaboration over competition with his male co-stars, highlighting how fostering camaraderie and comfort enhances on-screen chemistry. During an event, John shared that he thrives on working harmoniously with his colleagues rather than competing against them. He mentioned feeling more at ease around male actors and that this sense of camaraderie naturally translates into a more authentic performance on screen.
John Abraham On Equation With Male Co-Stars In Bollywood
While speaking at the Screen Masterclass event, the actor—who has shared the screen with Shah Rukh Khan, Akshay Kumar, and Abhishek Bachchan—discussed navigating the industry through a collaborative mindset. “The best approach is to train your mind to see your co-stars as complements, not rivals. I get along very well with my male colleagues. I’ve worked with Akshay Kumar, Shah Rukh Khan, Varun Dhawan, and Abhishek Bachchan. I’ve even shared a kiss with Abhishek! They see me as someone who enhances their process, and I feel the same about them. That comfort and energy show on screen.”
John On Being An Outsider In Bollywood
Reflecting on his journey since entering Bollywood in 2003, John also spoke about the challenges of being an outsider. “When I started, there were hardly any outsiders; only Shah Rukh and Akshay had broken through before me. Over the years, I faced a lot of criticism, but I stayed focused on my craft and never fed stories to the media. People recognise my integrity and understand where I come from,” he shared.
Known for his action-packed roles, John credits much of his onscreen chemistry to the ease he shares with his co-actors. His collaborative approach has helped him forge strong professional relationships in an industry often characterised by fragile egos and fierce competition.
John Abraham’s Projects
John’s recent work has delved into intense, real-world narratives, including Tehran and The Diplomat (both 2025). In Tehran, he portrays ACP Rajeev Kumar, a police officer caught in a dangerous geopolitical crisis after a bombing linked to international attacks, forcing him into covert operations while evading foreign intelligence agencies.
In The Diplomat, he plays J.P. Singh, an Indian diplomat in Pakistan navigating a tense web of diplomacy, suspicion, and moral dilemmas when confronting a distressing case involving an Indian woman. Additionally, John is reportedly considering a revival of the Force franchise with its third instalment. He is also preparing to star in a modern adaptation of the Mahabharata, tentatively titled Duryodhana, penned by Arun Gopalan, which aims to reimagine the epic for a 21st-century audience. Furthermore, he is set to lead Rohit Shetty’s biopic on Mumbai Police Commissioner Rakesh Maria.
