More than a decade after Queen became a cultural milestone, Kangana Ranaut has returned to the world of Rani with the much-anticipated sequel. The original film not only reshaped her career. But it also struck a chord with audiences for its message of self-discovery and independence. Now, as anticipation builds around the follow-up, Kangana has officially begun shooting in South Mumbai with director Vikas Bahl. At the same time, she continues to balance her responsibilities as a Member of Parliament. Making this phase one of the most demanding in her career.
Kangana Ranaut Begins Shooting For Queen 2
According to a report by Mid-Day, the actor kicked off filming last week after a tight pre-production window. She reportedly began preparations soon after wrapping up Bharat Bhagya Vidhata. With the team having only about 20 days before cameras started rolling. The film is currently being shot across multiple locations in Mumbai, with key scenes already underway.
“Now, they are shooting in and around Mumbai. The unit is currently filming in Grant Road, where a set depicting the protagonist’s home has been built,” a source told Mid-Day.
Despite the demanding schedule, Kangana Ranaut has continued to attend Parliament sessions in Delhi. The report highlights how she has been frequently travelling between cities while staying committed to the shoot. Vikas Bahl, who is also writing and co-producing the film, has planned a tightly packed three-month schedule.
The source further told Mid-Day, “In the last 10 days, Kangana has been flying in and out of the city to attend the Parliament sessions. There have been times when she went to Delhi for the day, came back in the night, and shot till the next morning.”
What We Know About Queen 2 So Far
While the sequel revisits the spirit of the original Queen, it is not expected to continue the same storyline. Instead, it will explore a fresh narrative while retaining the core themes of self-growth and independence. “This time too, Rani is a small-town woman from North India, but her look is entirely different. The story traces how she comes into her own after a situation brings her to Mumbai,” a source had earlier revealed.
Reports also suggest that Kangana may be the only returning cast member. With no other actors from the original film expected to reprise their roles. Additionally, while the project is widely referred to as Queen 2, another report indicates that the makers are considering a new title, possibly Queen Forever, although there is no official confirmation yet.
