Madhuri Dixit, Triptii Dimri REACT To ‘Ignoring’ Dharna Durga During Maa Behen Promotions; Shame Netizens

Actors Triptii Dimri and Madhuri Dixit addressed the controversy surrounding Dharna Durga during Maa Behen promotions, saying social media often creates debates out of harmless moments. A harmless moment during a promotional event recently snowballed into a social media controversy. During the promotions of Maa Behen, influencer and actor Dharna Durga was seemingly asked to step aside while photographers focused on Madhuri Dixit and Triptii Dimri. A few seconds of footage were enough to trigger a heated debate online.

As videos of the incident spread across social media, many users interpreted the moment as an awkward snub. Within hours, the clip was being dissected, analysed, and repackaged into a controversy of its own. While several people expressed sympathy for Dharna, others questioned why Madhuri and Triptii did not intervene. At the same time, many defended the actors, arguing that photographers are often under pressure to prioritise more recognisable faces at promotional events.

Speaking to India Today, Triptii Dimri dismissed suggestions that there was any ill intent behind the incident. The actor said she has come to expect that, whenever a film is nearing release, even the most innocuous moments can become the subject of scrutiny. “Whenever I have a film nowadays it happens that when something is about to be released, I am scared of being happy. I ask myself, what will they pick this time? What will they create now?” she said sarcastically.

The Animal actor admitted that while promoting Maa Behen, she genuinely believed there would be little room for controversy. “I thought, what will they find in this film? There is nothing. They can’t say anything this time. But they did get hold of something. Some people will go on to do it every time; we can’t help it,” she added.

Madhuri Dixit Says Everyone Is Moral Police

For Madhuri Dixit, the issue is not that criticism has increased, but that everyone now has a platform through which they can instantly share their opinions. Reflecting on the difference between such controversies in the 1990s and today, the actor said, “There were people [like that] even then, but they didn’t have a way to express. Today we have that channel; everyone is expressing these days. Everyone is a filmmaker, everyone is a fashionista, and everyone is moral police.”

Directed by Suresh Triveni, Maa Behen will stream on Netflix from June 4.
