Mahesh Babu enters Bollywood

Biopics are raining these days in the film industry. Right from Prime Minister Narendra Modi to late Shiv Sena chief Bal Thackeray, the Indian film industry has found many inspiring stories. And now, the biopic on Major Sandeep Unnikrishnan titled ‘Major’ is being made in Hindi and Telugu language. Interesting the film will be produced by South star Mahesh Babu.

The film is based on the life of Major Sandeep Unnikrishnan, the NSG commando, who saved several hostages during the 26/11 attack at the Taj Mahal Hotel in Mumbai and ended up sacrificing his life for the nation. He was also awarded the Ashoka Chakra posthumously, India’s highest military honour in peacetime.

The film will be produced by Mahesh Babu’s home banner Ghattamaneni Mahesh Babu Entertainment (GMB) in association with Sony Pictures Productions. Mahesh Babu’s wife and managing director of the production company, Namrata Shirdokar said, “Mahesh and I have envisioned GMB to bring stories that resonate globally. We are excited to be able to tell such a unique and original tale about the life of a national hero. Sesh Adivi and Sashikiran Tikka’s honest vision for Major’s story resonated with us. In Sony Pictures, we have found the right partners to bring the incredible story to the big screen for both, Indian and international audience.”

This marks Sony Pictures’ entry into the Telugu film industry while Mahesh Babu’s foray into Bollywood. Telugu actor Adivi Sesh will play the titular role in the film. He recently announced about the film on Twitter.
