Shahid Kapoor reveals he was convinced to do Kabir Singh

In a conversation with Pinkvilla, Shahid Kapoor revealed that his wife Mira Rajput had convinced him to do Kabir Singh. The film is a remake of Vijay Deverakonda’s Arjun Reddy. He discussed the film with Mira and insisted on not doing the film. He said, “She just kept looking at me and after 5 minutes she was like ‘just shut up and do it. It’s the perfect film for you’. I was like ‘really?’, she was like ‘Yeah. People love to see you in love stories, people love to see you in messed-up characters. This has both! Just do it!’ Her thinking was so simple and I had overcomplicated it for myself and I guess it was good I did Kabir Singh.”

There’s no doubt that the film emerged as one of the highest-grossing films of 2019. Despite this, it also saw a huge uproar for a particular scene where he had slapped Kiara Advani’s character. The film witnessed bashing from audience for bringing up and encouraging toxic masculinity.

Shahid Kapoor on Kabir Singh controversy

Well, in an interview with Bollywood Bubble, Shahid Kapoor sat down with us for an exclusive interview. He got candid in speaking whether actors are targeted unnecessarily after the Kabir Singh controversy. To this, he had said, “Anybody who can provide a platform can be targeted whether that’s an actor or a sports person, or someone who is very successful, there’s always that negative side to the position that you have. And it is very true for the actors and for our fraternity because it is very easy to get any kind of footage, so that does happen, sometimes it is necessary, sometimes it is fair. So, it depends from situation to situation, which one feels appropriate which one doesn’t but it is something that happens very often for sure.”

Post Kabir Singh, Shahid starred in Jersey, Farzi, and Bloody Daddy.
