Additionally, the Maharashtra Cyber Department conducted a special cyber awareness session at R.D. National College in Mumbai. The event aimed to educate students about the risks of the digital world and promote safe online practices. The session covered topics such as preventing online financial fraud, securing social media accounts, protecting against phishing attacks, and tackling cyberbullying.

During the program, Yashasvi Yadav shared, “He (Akshay Kumar) had a very shocking story to share with us. He said that his own daughter was being s*xtorted. The girl was very brave and informed her parents. Through her parents, we received this information, and that is how we handled the case. I would like to draw your attention to that.” He also played an old clip of Akshay Kumar recounting the incident.

What Happened?

Akshay Kumar recounted a personal experience. He explained how his daughter, while playing an online video game a few months ago, encountered an unknown person who initially sent friendly and encouraging messages. Kumar revealed, “The game allowed her to play with strangers. The person on the other side started with polite messages like ‘thank you,’ ‘well played,’ and ‘fantastic.’ It seemed like a nice person. After some time, he asked if she was male or female. When she replied female, the tone of the conversation changed.”

He went on to share the details, “I want to share a small incident from a few months back. My daughter was playing a video game online. Some games let you play with strangers, and while she was playing, she received a message asking, ‘Are you male or female?’ She replied that she was female. Then the person sent a shocking message asking her to send n*de pictures.” Kumar explained that the stranger then abruptly asked his daughter to send nude images. “My daughter immediately shut down the game and informed my wife. Thankfully, she didn’t hesitate to share what happened, which was the best part,” he said.

Highlighting the gravity of the situation, Kumar emphasised that such instances are part of a larger pattern of cybercrime, where predators often build trust before attempting to exploit minors, which can sometimes lead to extortion or tragic outcomes like suicide.
