Asha Bhosle crooned her voice for many songs featuring Mumtaz, such as Bindiya Chamkegi, Jai Jai Shiv Shankar, Duniya Mein Logon Ko from Apna Desh, and Koi Shahri Babu.
About Asha Bhosle’s Death
Asha Bhosle passed away at the age of 92 in Mumbai. She was admitted to Breach Candy Hospital on Saturday. Her last rites are scheduled to be held at Shivaji Park on Monday at 4:00 pm. One of the most influential singers of her era, she made her debut as a playback singer with the Marathi film ‘Majha Bal’ in 1943. She is renowned for iconic songs like Chura Liya Hai Tumne Jo Dil Ko, Do Lafzon Ki Hai Dil Ki Kahani, Kya Ghazab Karte Ho Ji, O Haseena Zulfonwale Jane Jahan, and Ye Ladka Hai Allah Kaisa Hai Deewana.
About Mumtaz
Meanwhile, Mumtaz made her acting debut at age 11 in the films Lajwanti and Sone Ki Chidiya in 1958. She was initially typecast as a stunt film heroine, with roles in Faulad (1963) and Daku Mangal Singh (1966). She later appeared in films like Ram Aur Shyam, Mere Hamdam Mere Dost, and Brahmachari. Her career breakthrough came with Do Raaste in 1969. She starred in Bandhan, Aadmi Aur Insaan, Sachaa Jhutha, Khilona, Hare Rama Hare Krishna, Apna Desh, Loafer, Roti, and Nagin.
Following this, Mumtaz took a 13-year break from acting, returning with the 1990 film Aandhiyan. The story revolves around Shakuntala and Dushyant, with Dushyant’s father opposing their marriage due to Shakuntala’s poor background. The film depicts Dushyant’s struggle to choose between his love and his family.
Mumtaz married businessman Mayur Madhvani in 1974. They have two daughters, one of whom, Natasha, married Feroz Khan’s son Fardeen Khan in 2006.
