Star kid Aryan Khan was arrested by the Narcotics Control Bureau on October 3 due to his alleged involvement with drugs on the cruise ship. Aryan and the other accused were booked under Section 8(c) with Section 20(b), Sections 27, 28, 29 and 35 of the NDPS Act. On October 28, the Bombay High Court granted bail to Aryan Khan after 25 days.

Aryan Khan was also given a clean chit by the court but now the latest update on the drug case has cropped up, stating that Aryan was targeted as NCB’s vigilance team found some irregularities in the case. According to a report in TOI, a 3,000-page charge sheet was submitted in August and found lapses on the part of seven to eight officers in the Aryan Khan case and two other cases.

All the cases were probed by Sameer Wankhede, the then-zonal director, and his team. A senior bureau official, requesting anonymity, said the report has “recommended departmental action against at least seven NCB officials”.

According to sources, the vigilance team recorded the statement of at least 65 witnesses, including NCB officers. “Everyone was given fair opportunity to present themselves, and based on evidence, we have found various irregularities,” said an officer.

Back in March this year, the Special Investigation Team (SIT) of the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) had said to have found several irregularities in the raid conducted on the yacht Cordelia.

As per a report by HT, some of the critical findings of SIT shared by the officials, “Aryan Khan was never in possession of drugs hence there was no need to take his phone and check his chats; the chats do not suggest Khan was part of any international syndicate; the raid was not video-recorded as mandated by the NCB manual, and the drugs recovered from multiple accused arrested in the case shown as single recovery.
