Neena Gupta on top filmmaker’s crass comment: He said that because I was not sleeping with him

Veteran actress Neena Gupta recently launched her autobiography, ‘Sach Kahun Toh’. The actress has penned a heartfelt story of her life, her struggles to prove herself as an actress, to raise a child single-handedly and to fight society’s perception towards her. The actress has also shared about the times when she was treated as nobody in the film industry, despite having won a National award.

The Badhaai Ho actress also has revealed how top filmmakers would pass insensitive remarks. In fact, she also opened up about a top filmmaker’s crass remark after she refused to sleep with him.

Neena wanted to name the top filmmaker in her book but decided against it after she was warned of the legal consequences by her publishers. The veteran actress during her interaction with Sonali Bendre revealed she didn’t name and shame the filmmaker back then as she was just a struggling actress. And her friends had advised her not to speak against the filmmaker as that would jeopardize her career.

Revealing the filmmaker’s insensitive and crass comment, Neena said, “This film director told me in front of everybody, ‘Cheezon ko istemaal nahi karo toh zung lag jaata hai (If you don’t use things, they begin to rust)’, because I was not sleeping with him. I kind of refused indirectly. He said it in front of everybody, all the actors and everybody.”

“My friends said, ‘Who will listen to you? He is a big name. Nobody will listen to you. What’s the point? Tumhari badnaami hogi. Phir bhi (Even then), I told somebody and then he said some very nasty things about me. Then, my friends said, ‘See, this is what is going to happen. It will become very dirty. So, just keep quiet. When your time comes, you say.’ This is my time so I am saying it,” added the Sardar Ka Grandson actress.

Previously, the actress had also revealed how, on the sets of Khal Nayak, she felt embarrassed when director Subhash Ghai demanded her to wear a padded bra in Choli Ke Peeche song.
