Most of the cinema buffs remember Aniruddha Roy Chowdhury for his National Award winning Bengali film ‘Antaheen’, apart from the other films he made. From a genre of emotional turbulence and relationships, a thriller like ‘Pink‘ must have been a huge shift for the director. He not only pulled it off, but nailed it!

The film kickstarts with a group of young lads rushing to the hospital with a mate Rajveer (Angad Bedi) wounded; while in another car, three girls Meenal (Taapsee Pannu), Falak (Kirti Kulhari), and Andrea (Andrea Tariang), all traumatised, head home. It is later revealed that Meenal hurt Angad, who is the nephew of an influential politician, and caused him to lose an eye, during an unplanned circumstance. As she refuses to apologise and moves to the police, she is kidnapped and molested. Instead of arresting the molesters, the police arrests Meenal in charges of attempt to murder.

What exactly happened that night? Why is the society slut-shaming them? Will they choose to escape? The first half leaves us longing for the rest.

Taapsee and Kirti are terrific so far. We’ve got glimpses of Amitabh Bachchan as a mysterious neighbour who comes out of his shell just to assist the women in trouble; and he’ll be a treat for sure.
