It is the season of biopics in Bollywood and 2019 has seen biopics being made on former PM Manmohan Singh and late Bal Thackeray. Now, Vivek Oberoi starrer ‘PM Narendra Modi’ has been involved in lots of controversies and it is being targeted by critics for being politically motivated. The Supreme Court of India on Monday declined to pass an order on a plea seeking a stay on the biopic on Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

The apex court did not pass the order on Monday and said it will hear the plea on Tuesday. In the meantime, the petitioner could bring on record what was objectionable in the film.

‘PM Narendra Modi’ is based on the life of Narendra Modi. And just a few days from now, Lok Sabha elections in India will begin. The elections will be held across seven phases and results will be declared on May 23.

According to news agency IANS, the bench headed by Chief Justice Ranjan Gogoi made an observation on the plea by a Congress activist and said: “Why should we direct that an individual be given a copy of the film.”

The bench told the lawyer of the petitioner: “We fail to see how such a direction can be issued… We fail to understand why such a direction be given.” As of now, ‘PM Narendra Modi’ is scheduled to release on April 11.
