Rajpal Yadav Shares FIRST Post After Delhi HC Conviction Featuring Akshay Kumar
Following the High Court’s order, Rajpal posted an advertisement for Catch Masala on his Instagram profile. The commercial also stars Akshay Kumar, depicting Akshay introducing a variety of delicious dishes to a table full of women, who are eager to taste the mouth-watering meal. One woman asks to kiss the chef’s hand, mistaking him for the chef who prepared the feast. At that moment, Rajpal enters wearing an apron, and Akshay reveals that it was actually Rajpal who cooked the dishes using Catch Masala.
About Rajpal Yadav’s Case
Rajpal Yadav had borrowed Rs 5 crore from M/s Murali Projects Pvt Ltd in 2010 for his directorial debut, ‘Ata Pata Laapata,’ which ultimately flopped at the box office. He failed to repay the debt, and with interest accumulating, the amount rose to nearly Rs 9 crore, leading to a lengthy legal battle.
In 2018, a magistrate’s court convicted Rajpal and his wife, Radha, sentencing them to six months in jail. The following year, the sessions court upheld the conviction. Rajpal then appealed to the Delhi High Court. In June 2024, the High Court temporarily suspended his sentence, instructing him to take “sincere and genuine measures” to clear the nearly Rs 9 crore in dues. However, on February 2, the court ordered him to surrender, and he did so on February 5, spending a few days in jail. Later, on February 16, he was granted interim bail after depositing Rs 1.5 crore.
Latest Update
On July 10, the Delhi High Court confirmed his conviction. They imposed a fine of Rs 1.05 crore in each case, totalling Rs 7.35 crore. His wife, Radha Rajpal Yadav, was ordered to pay over Rs 5 lakh in each case. The court noted that Yadav had made multiple undertakings promising payment. However, the actor failed to honour them despite being given several opportunities.
“Opportunities were granted to honour the settlement. He [Yadav] and his counsel made several statements and assurances. And despite these repeated opportunities and assurances, he failed to honour the undertakings,” the court observed, according to Bar and Bench.
