Ranbir Kapoor REVEALS he had to convince the makers to play double role in Shamshera

Ranbir Kapoor and Sanjay Dutt starrer Shamshera trailer was released today. The film’s trailer has received a great response. Ranbir will be seen fighting against Sanjay Dutt to fulfill his father’s legacy in the film. At the end of the trailer, it was revealed that Ranbir is playing double role. Yes, Ranbir is playing both the father and his son in this revenge drama.

During Shamshera’s trailer launch, Ranbir opened up about playing double role for the first time. The actor revealed that he was approached to play the role of Balli (son) but later he convinced Aditya Chopra and Karan Malhotra to let him play the role of Balli’s father too.

The actor was quoted saying, “When the film was narrated to me, it wasn’t really offered to me as a double role. When I heard the story, my immediate response to Aditya Chopra and Karan Malhotra was that let me play the father also.”

He added, “It is such a great role, it is such an interesting, juicy part for an actor to play. Then, I really had to convince Adi and Karan. I think after that Karan did a couple of look tests and that’s when he got convinced also.”

Ranbir is playing a double role for the first time in his career. The actor said that it was challenging but also very exciting to play both the roles.

Shamshera also stars Vaani Kapoor. She plays the role of a dancer. Fans are beyond excited to see Sanjay and Ranbir onscreen together against each other for the first time. Shamshera is slated to hit the theatre screens on 22^nd July.
