Rani Mukerji is one of the most talented actresses in Bollywood. In her career span, she has given stellar performances with movies like ‘Sathiya’, ‘Hum Tum’, ‘Black’, ‘Hichki’, and ‘Mangal Panday’ among others. Today her movie ‘Mardaani 2’ has hit the screens.

In an interview with Pinkvilla, she spoke about glorifying toxic masculinity. When she was asked about the ‘Kabir Singh’ controversy, Rani said that she has always been part of the films that showcased the modern Indian women in its truest and strongest form and she would continue to do so. She also said that there should be freedom of expression or one cannot be in the creative line. There has to be a great balance where in your creative space you are achieving what you want to as well as you are doing something inspiring for the youth, women and country. Rani believed that there should be a balance between creative freedom and social responsibility.

Rani also said that cinema is an expression through different genres such as comedy, romance, horror, social message. As an actor, she would love to do different kinds of roles but it shouldn’t give the wrong message. She also said that there should be a line between creative freedom and social responsibility and cinema should be an amalgamation of the same.

Talking about ‘Mardaani 2’, Rani is playing a police officer, Shivani Shivaji Roy who fights against a serial killer who rapes and murders young women.
