Filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma may have deleted his Twitter account, but nothing keeps him away from voicing his opinions on Facebook. Now, he has lashed out against the Prohibition and Excise Department of Telangana for targeting Tollywood celebs in a drug racket case. However, a top official trashed his allegation. According to Varma, the department is just using the film industry to gain publicity. He even said that does the Special Investigation Team (SIT) question school kids who were using the drugs, just like they questioned celebs for hours on end?

He wrote in a Facebook post, “I am very much wondering if the school children taking drugs also will be summoned by SIT and interrogated for 12 hours like they are doing to Poori jagan and Subba Raju ..just asking?
Ofcourse everyone kind of know it exists but first time everyone actually heard about this department only because they are using the film industry as a teaser trailer for people to come to know their existence
Whatever the actual truth of the drugs matter the law in its own course might tell or not tell but for the moment Akun Sabharwal is being projected like Amarendta Bahubali by the Media ..Maybe S S Rajamouli should make Bahubali 3 with him.” [sic] (Also Read: Ram Gopal Varma and Anurag Kashyap go on a kissing spree)

His next post read, “Nobody is denying the integrity of Mr. Sabarwal or his department but even without any charges or conclusive proof to allow the media leaks to destroy the reputations of people apart from causing distress to their families is highly deplorable.” [sic]

Here are all of his Facebook posts:

His comments were condemned by R. Chandravadan, Commissioner, Prohibition and Excise, who said that it’s quite unfortunate that some people have been making such demoralising comments for the officials. He further stated that the officials were following the guidelines of the Supreme Court and the celebrities should act responsibly.

The Special Investigating Team has summoned many Tollywood celebs like director Puri Jagannadh, cinematographer Shyam K. Naidu and actor Subbaraju. They are being questioned about any relation to the drug racket.
