Riteish Deshmukh Recalls Pap Paying For Him On The Street

Riteish Deshmukh recently recalled an unexpected act of kindness from a paparazzo, revealing how the photographer once stepped in to help him when he did not have cash on hand. The actor shared the incident while talking about his interactions with paparazzi and the perception that celebrities often pay photographers for attention. However, in his case, the situation was quite the opposite. Scroll down to read the full story.

Riteish Deshmukh Recalls Pap Paying For Him On The Street

Riteish recalled being outside a Mumbai restaurant when he spotted a young boy selling something for Rs 100. He wanted to buy it but realised he was not carrying any cash. He first asked his driver if he had Rs 100, but the driver did not have the exact amount either. The actor then asked the child if he accepted digital payments. When the boy said he did not have a QR code, a paparazzo nearby offered to help.

Riteish explained, “We were going, there was a boy selling something for Rs 100. I didn’t have cash that day. Nowadays, I don’t carry cash with me because everything has gone digital. I first asked my driver if he had Rs 100 change. He didn’t have Rs 100 change. Then I asked that little boy, do you have GPay? Because people who sell things usually have a QR code or something. So that boy told me that I don’t have GPay. That’s when a paparazzo helped me. He told me I’ll pay.”

Riteish Says He Didn’t Know The Pap

The actor revealed that he did not know the photographer at the time and was unaware of his name. He later learned that the paparazzo was possibly named Sushil Mohite, although Riteish admitted he was not completely certain about the name. He recalled, “At that time, I didn’t even know him, I didn’t know his name. Now I know. If I’m not mistaken, his name is Sushil Mohite and if the name is wrong, forgive me.”

For Riteish, however, the gesture was not about the Rs 100 but about the humanity behind it. He emphasised that the paparazzo’s willingness to help stood out to him. The actor said, “The humanity shown by that paparazzo was important. He was willing to pay for me. There is always chaos when we are walking on the streets and paparazzi are doing their work. We always think that perhaps they want our pictures and they need our help. But, we don’t realise that there are also moments when they come forward to help. We have always received support from the paparazzi.”

Riteish: “I Got Money From The Pap”

Riteish also highlighted how his experience differed from the common perception surrounding celebrities and paparazzi. While stars are often accused of paying photographers to get photographed, the actor found himself on the receiving end of their generosity. With his characteristic humour, Riteish concluded, “People always say that you pay paps. But, I am the only one who has got money from paparazzi.”

The actor’s anecdote offered a lighter perspective on the relationship between Bollywood celebrities and paparazzi, while highlighting how a small gesture can leave a lasting impression.
