The statement also mentioned that, due to an ongoing firing case, two police officers have been assigned for safety.

Rohit Shetty’s Team Clarifies NO Violation Of Law

The presence of police stickers on SUVs registered in Rohit Shetty’s name sparked a social media debate. It focused on concerns about potential legal trouble. However, his team clarified the situation through an official statement.

The statement read, “Following the firing incident at Rohit Shetty’s residence, the police had implemented heightened security measures and provided protection. Identification stickers were placed during the initial phase, which have now been discontinued.”

It further read, “At present, Rohit Shetty continues to remain under police security, with two personnel deployed for his safety, as the matter remains under active surveillance. We extend our sincere appreciation to the Mumbai Police for their steadfast support and cooperation during this challenging period.”

Why Was Rohit Shetty Accused Of Violating Rules?

According to a Mid-Day report, Shetty customised at least two of his private SUVs with police stickers and lights. As per Section 177 of the Motor Vehicles Act of 1988, such acts are illegal and punishable. Only police personnel and authorised law enforcement agencies are permitted to use these markings and equipment.

A senior traffic officer told Mid-Day that permission to display police stickers and lights is granted solely to police officers. After verification, it was confirmed that the SUVs are registered in Shetty’s name. An RTO official stated, “Under the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988, as amended in 2019, it is illegal to put ‘Police’ stickers, logos, or boards on private vehicles under Section 177.”
