Salman Khan Urges Sonam Wangchuk To End Hunger Strike

In yet another social media post shared on Thursday, the 60-year-old said he was confident that action would be taken against those responsible for the alleged leak. The superstar further referred to PM Narendra Modi’s post about setting up fast-track courts to punish those behind the leak. “The students are at top priority, educationally and security-wise, so they need not worry and have their parents worried for them. The Honourable Prime Minister has tweeted, and I am sure that he will take strict action against all those people who are responsible for this leak. So students, please go back to your parents and homes (sic),” he wrote.

Addressing social activist Sonam Wangchuk, who has been on a hunger strike for 26 days in support of the students, Salman urged him to end his fast. “Sonam, it’s done, bro. Don’t extend this. If you want, will send u food from home (sic),” the actor wrote, offering to send him home-cooked food. See his post here:

This marked Salman Khan’s second post on the students’ protest after he shared a detailed statement on Wednesday backing them and calling for accountability. Describing the leak as “a very serious issue”, the Maatrubhumi actor said the protests had begun peacefully. He urged that the movement should not be politicised. He also called for a fair, transparent and merit-based education system.

Celebs REACT To CJP Protest

Salman is among several film personalities who have voiced support for the students in recent days. Hrithik Roshan, Alia Bhatt, Rajkummar Rao, R Madhavan, Sonakshi Sinha, Naseeruddin Shah, Ratna Pathak and Anurag Kashyap have also spoken. They expressed solidarity with the students and called for accountability over the alleged paper leak.

The protests, led by the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP), have continued for over a month, with students demanding action. Earlier this week, the agitation intensified after the CJP’s ‘Chalo Sansad’ march in Delhi. However, clashes broke out between protesters and police.
