The film industry works in mysterious ways. Sometimes you have two banners making films on exact same subject and then there are times when we see two filmmakers ending up making similar films. Now those who have seen Seema Pahwa’s directorial debut Ramprasad Ki Tehrvi and Umesh Bist’s Pagglait can’t help but notice the similarities between the two.

Everything right from the concept to the exact location where both the films have been shot, there are several resemblances in Pagglait and Ramprasad Ki Tehrvi. Interestingly Seema’s film had released in 2019 and Sanya Malhotra starrer Pagglait came out last month. Obviously, Seema is upset and she even said that she feels cheated.

Sharing her reaction after watching Pagglait, Seema told The Quint that she is upset. The actor-filmmaker also said that maybe its just a coincidence that two people thought of the same thing.

When asked she will speak to the makers of Pagglait, Seema told the portal, “I feel that this conversation they should have had with me when they had seen my film in MAMI. If Guneet (Monga) or anyone related to the film would have just spoken to me about how their film script is by chance so similar to ours or they would have tweaked their script a little, then it would have been nice but maybe they wouldn’t have felt the need. But, if I would have got to know that there is another film in which all these things have already been shown, I would have definitely made changes in my script.”

Sharing how she feels cheated, the veteran actress further added, “Yeah, obviously you do feel cheated. On one side you have your original film that you have already made and then someone makes something so similar and that gets appreciation then you do feel bad. All I know is I made a film with full honesty that the audience and critics have appreciated. It has run for 60 days in the theatres. I think this is a big reward for me.”

Ramprasad Ki Tehrvi features a power-packed ensemble cast featuring Naseeruddin Shah, Konkona Sen Sharma, Supriya Pathak, Vikrant Massey, Vinay Pathak, Manoj Pahwa and Vineet Kumar. The film is soon going to release on Netflix as well. Seema is now hoping to see how the audience reacts after watching both films.
