Sequels always work, we have seen that in Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 & Drishyam 2: Bhushan Kumar on presenting Yaariyan 2

Yaariyan 2 starring Himansh Kohli and Rakul Preet Singh was released in 2014. The first part was directed by Divya Khosla Kumar. Now, after 9 years, the makers are back with Yaariyan 2. The much-awaited teaser of Yaariyan 2 was released today. Once again, it’s time to witness the yaari of Yaariyan. The sequel is directed by Vinay Sapru and Radhika Rao. Bhushan Kumar, Krishnan Kumar, and Aayush Maheshwari are producing it. At the teaser launch of upcoming film, Bhushan Kumar opened up about coming back with the sequel of Yaariyan.

Bhushan Kumar talks about sequels in Bollywood

The producer said, “Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 was a runaway success, the Drishyam 2 was a success, and now Yaariyan 2 is coming. Yaariyan 1 bhi bohot achhi chali thi. The backbone was music. Uss time Divya (Khosla Kumar) ne shoot ki thi and aaj bhi aap dekh rahe hai gaane pe reactions (Yaariyan 1 was too good. The backbone was music. At that time, Divya Khosla Kumar had directed it. And even today, you can see the good reactions) So, that is an iconic song, Blue Hai Paani Paani.”

He added, “So, I am hoping ki sequels ka zamana aa raha hai. Aaj aap dekhenge ki kitne saare filmein, Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 bana rahe hai, Aashiqui 3 and Welcome ki bhi franchise announce hui hai. So, many franchise are coming. So, franchise se aapko ek fixed viewership milti hai and fixed fans milte hai (So, we are in the era of sequels. Bhool Bhuliayaa 3 is happening, Aashiqui 3 and Welcome 3 is also on the cards. Through franchise we get fixed viewership and fans as well).”

Bhushan talks about the script

Bhushan further added, “Iss film ki jab script mujhe Radhika ne sunai thi toh it was bang on for Yaariyan franchise to take forward. So, waha se journey start hui hai. (When I first heard the script of Yaariyan 2 from Radhika, I thought it was bang on to take the story forward. So, the journey started from there).”He then went on to add that he is satisfied with the teaser of the film as well. He also said that he hopes Yaariyan 2 does better than the first part. Apart from that, he also mentioned that the songs in Yaariyan 2 are too good.

Yaariyan 2 stars Divya Khosla Kumar, Meezan Jaffery, and Yash Das Gupta. The sequel is slated to release on 20^th October, 2023.
